Meet The Lady Chilane, reigning drag queen of Joshua Tree and the rest of the surrounding basin.
A former teen Elvis impersonator from Tennessee, Lady Chilane came to the California desert like a dream with a suitcase full of drag. Outside of disco-fied bathrooms, you can find her hosting her monthly cabaret at Mojave Gold in Yucca Valley, 2uesday Open Mic in Twentynine Palms, running fundraisers for the Joshua Tree No Kill Animal Shelter, showing art at multiple galleries, and popping up on indie movie sets to add a certain je ne sais quoi you can’t get from anyone else.
Our editor and resident photographer, RA Pickup, hung out with your new favorite drag queen in the bathroom in the Joshua Tree coffee shop and bar, Mas ó Menos, and got a party started with the model Justin White.

Walk through Coyote Little’s Galentine’s show through the pink curtain leading to the Dirge Lounge, where we’ll be immersing in drag, naughty butterflies and beer can undies by artist Alea Bone, and boobie vases by Stray Ceramics. We’ll have candygrams for your sweetie, a special cake, and tons of celebratory refreshments.
