Thanksgiving is a Lie: Indigenous Playlist for November

Join Dirge Magazine on Discord

If you’re an adult in 2026, you were probably a kid wearing a paper pilgrim hat or feathered headband at some elementary school, being told a shiny story about Thanksgiving being a celebration of the pilgrims inviting the people of indigenous tribes to their tables for a feast. Everyone was friends! It was cute! Right? Well, not so much. So, rather than theming our November playlist around a holiday that celebrates a complete fucking lie, we thought we would put together a playlist of our favorite Native American punk, hip hop, and other damn good indigenous music.

We’ve already featured The Dead Pioneers on a few playlists, but we’re going to keep doing it. We also have the haunting sounds of Achanid’s native trap, absolute bangers by Snotty Nose Rez Kids, and protest sounds from Frank Waln. And of course, music to fuck shit up to by bands like 1876, The Yoties, and favorites like The Dead Pioneers. Throw it on, find some new faves, and forget the lie of Thanskgiving.

The full playlist is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube. No excuse to skip out on great music that might just call you out. A little.
